After my best night’s sleep of the tour I was up and at breakfast for 7:30 – scrambled egg on toast. Once I had finished breakfast I had a swim and did 20 minutes of laps – not sure how far this was as the pool was only small.
Then it was time to shower and change so I was ready to leave at 10 am.We had a two hour journey to Airlie Beach to the sailing club for lunch of BLT and chips followed by a walk through the market and town to do some shopping. By 2pm I had purchased two pairs of ear-rings, a dress, a bag, postcards, ice cream and some washing powder! I was the last one back but I was there at 1:55 so I wasn’t late!
We then drove to the ferry port to board a boat to Day Dream Island.
The journey took about 30 minutes. We were greeted with shell necklaces and a fruit juice cocktail while our bags were delivered to our rooms. The room was great and I sat on the balcony talking to the cockatiels and watching the moon come out. I was so engrossed that I forgot about drinks before dinner!
Supper was a carvery followed by a choice of desserts and there was live music playing in the bar which some of us stayed around to listen to.
The bed was big and I settled down to a good night’s sleep – hopefully!
