Up at 5:30 – I have no idea why but I couldn’t go back to sleep. Anyway, I made the most of the time and managed, with poor wifi, to get another blog posted. Then it was time to get ready for breakfast and a final packing up to get rolling on the coach by 8:30 am. I am beginning to wonder if I am being turned into a morning person!
So this was a travel day – lots of sitting and knitting until Mount Larcon where we stopped for a cup of tea. We were next to a children’s play area which had the best looking swings so while tea was being set up I had a swing and it was lovely. It didn’t squeak or rock, it just swang. A good way to get the blood pumping from sitting on the coach.
After another two hours we stopped in Rockhampton for lunch sandwiches and Anzac biscuits. We didn’t finish the Anzac biscuits so I asked to take some with me in case we got peckish on the coach. They kindly gave me a plastic box which I filled!
At some point we crossed the Tropic of Capricorn – it was definitely hotter over the line!
More driving with a comfort break in the middle of nowhere before driving off again. I have been knitting most of the way and have made great progress with only three squares to go. I also managed to write up a number of blogs ready to post when I had good wifi. Eventually we got to Mackay at about 5:30.
I got settled into my lovely room before going for a quick walk to the beach with Lynne – we needed to stretch our legs. It wasn’t far but the tide was out so it was a view of mud flats.
We didn’t stay long and made our way back to the hotel to get ready for supper. The hotel was not licensed but provided complementary wine which they kept topping up so I have no idea how many glasses I drank!
Supper was a lovely fish with potatoes and veg, followed by fruit salad and ice cream. We sat up chatting with the managers for a bit after supper which was nice.
Once I was back to my room I checked out the wifi, which was brilliantly quick, so I was able catch up and up load all my blogs. A very happy lady now!
