Had a very lazy morning, although I was awake by 8. I pottered about and had eggs and toast for breakfast. Eventually got showered and dressed ready to meet Anne.
She arrived on time and I got a call to say she was downstairs. She hadn’t changed a bit and we gave each other a huge hug. She asked me what I wanted to do and we settled on the beach. We walked to the car chatting all the way. It is Mother’s Day here so we thought most places would be packed. Turns out nowhere in Adelaide is packed even when it is busy!
We drove for about 20 mins to Brighton talking the whole time and by the time we got there it had clouded over.
We had garlic prawns, spring rolls and garlic bread to share. We updated each on our lives and what had happened since we had last seen each other and we were going to go for a walk along the front but it decided to start raining!
Ann invited me to come to her house for supper so picked up some groceries and head back to her house.
She lives in a lovely old house which still has some of its original features and she is a fan of solid wooden furniture – she has got some wonderful pieces. Lots of thumbs up for me!👍
We had some tea and I met one of her sons Ben who was lovely. She made some biscuits while we were chatting and we shared photos of my trip and her farm, their trip to the Uk and hooked up to each other on Facebook. Before we knew it a couple of hours had passed and her husband Mike and her other son Christopher arrived home with the dog, a golden Labrador.
We carried on chatting while Mike made supper and opened the wine. They talked about time at the farm and plans for the future. Health problems at our ages – have similar and too many to list here!! We have similar out looks on life – you deal with the hand you are dealt and do the best you can and try not to knock yourself when things don’t go quite the way you would like and treat people the way you would like to be treated.
Ann kindly gave me a lift and I got back to my apartment at about 7:30. I didn’t want to outstay my welcome and they had Monday morning to prepare for!
What a lovely lady and family – an absolute credit to herself! A really nice way to spend a Sunday. There are so many strong, kind and lovely people in my life. Thank you Ann for sharing a day with me. I can’t believe it was 27 years!
