Early starts from now on so I can help Out with Elsie.  So once I had had some breakfast it was into the shower to be greeted by one of these….

This is apparently a Huntsman Spider which can bite humans!  I tried hard to chase it out of the shower to no avail so had to carry on regardless due to time.  Fortunately, I survived!

Alice and I took Elsie to football near her nursery and it was very interesting to watch her interact with the coach and her friends.  The coach was good at aiming the session at the youngsters with a story involving Fireman Sam, snakes, crocodiles, birthdays etc.  A good run around was had by all.

On returning to the house, we all began to sort Elsie’s old clothes out to take to the charity chop or to sell on EBay. We didn’t get far but at least it has been started!  I cooked lunch of noodles, tuna, sweet corn and mayonnaise which went down well with all of us.

Whilst Elsie and Alice napped, I tried to catch up on my blogging and knitting and got a fair way through the the cobblestone square.  Then it was a trip to the park which Elsie pushing her pushchair, me pushing her on the swings and then having a pretend campfire finishing off with a walk around the block to get some bread.

I cooked, under Alice’s helpful instruction and prep, a chicken stroganoff with mash which was very tasty.  Afterwards, I felt quite tired so withdrew to my room quite early.  I got very frustrated with the TV programmes I was trying to watch while knitting as it kept telling me the video wasn’t supported when I had already watched stuff on it before?! If anyone can give me any tips for dealing with this they would be very much appreciated.  I finished my Lammingtons and one knitted square then tidied my room.  I then had another blocks square to do so I did that one too as it was a very quick one.

  
So the quote for today must be about spiders …… but before that I have to tell you a couple of spider stories.  The first is when I found a small spider in my room when I was about 5.  I screamed and Dad came running and I told him about the spider (I think I may have been stalling bedtime!) and could he get it out of my room.  He got down on his hands and knees and explained that spiders are more scared of people then people are of them because they are so small.  He got the spider to walk over his hand – I think it was the size of one of my fingernails at the time.  And then he let it walk on mine saying that it wouldn’t hurt me which it didn’t. And I haven’t been afraid of spiders ever since.

Unlike a few of my friends….. at some point during our teenage years Sarah, Lynn, Liz and I went on youth club camp.  This particular camp was a wet one and I think the farmer took pity on us and allowed us to sleep in his barn.  Now I am not very good at sharing my bed at the best of times and it was no different then so I zipped myself into my sleeping bag to go to sleep.  Now the others decided to zip two bags together and all sleep in it together.  All was fine and they we all in and getting settled with Lizzy in the middle (if memory serves me correctly!).  Then the lights went out and a was quiet for about 30 seconds and then someone said “What is that?” Then someone else said “I think it is a spider!” And then they all started screaming and kicking to get out of the sleeping bags!  It goes into a bit of a blur from then onwards – I think I had to check for bugs and none of us got much sleep that night!  It makes me smile to remember!😀.
